Description
Delightful grouping early band ephemera that once belonged to Charles J. Tobias who was operator of the Hamburg Lumber Yard in Hamburg, PA. in addition to being the band leader for The Rotary Club Boy’s Band of Hamburg. A typed letter from the Lilley Company of Columbus, Ohio makers of Military & Society Goods including Masonic supplies to Mr. Tobais details the contents that come with this lot. I have provided images of this letter for your viewing. The letter details how samples of uniform cloth swatches are being sent to Mr. Tobais which is remarkably still intact and also included in this grouping. In addition there is exceptional trade catalogue from the George Evans Company of Philadelphia included in this lot. I found only one other copy of this catalogue and that is in the Smithsonian Libraries Trade Literature Collections. Other pieces of ephemera included in this grouping The Lilley Company Band Uniforms and Equipment catalogue price list and The Blue book of notating order measurements for Band & Military uniforms being purchased. There is also an All Weather Loose Leaf Band Music Folio newsletter in addition to a sales promotional pamphlet from the DeMoulin & Brothers & Company Greenville, Illinois. These items date from the 1920’s to a dated typed letter from The Dwight W. Goddard Company in Aurora, Illinois to Mr. Tobais dated July 3rd 1930. In conclusion a unique opportunity to own material that has the appearance of just arriving freshly transported in a Time Machine with all the bells & whistles.”1920's Archive of Early Band Ephemera and Catalogs Charles J.
