Circa 1990 Rotary International ЮДЖИН ИРКУСК (Eugene, Oregon - Irkutsk, Siberia) sponsorship pin. In the closing years of the Gorbachev Perestroika era in the USSR, Rotary International found some Russian cities eager to open Rotary chapters. Irkutsk and Magadan in Russia were two such cities. A Rotary delegation from Eugene, Oregon helped sponsor the inclusion of Irkutsk in District 510, Zone 24, which crosses 11 Time Zones from East of the Ural Mountains to the Yukon Territory of Alaska. The pin shows a 36-star American flag, which had a similar star configuration to the 48 star flag in use when the United States and the USSR were WWII Allies. The metal pinmeasures approx.
