Description
Here is an old scarce campaign pin from the West Virginia Rotary International club. It is a large bronze-like pin with a campaign message of " Bill Burd " T " Mathews for Clk. Supreme Ct. ". That would be William Burdette Mathews who did go on to become the West Virginia Clerk of the Supreme Court of Appeals. I am not sure of the date but he was born in 1866 and was the W.V. assistant Attorney General in 1902. This is about a 2 5/16 inch diameter wheel with a 2 9/16 inch long window for the campaign writing. It has not been cleaned or polished but appears to be in excellent shape with no damage or repairs. I have a few other items marked with the William Burdette Mathews name also listed. I assume that this was his own personal pin. Please see my other items. Please see ALL enlarged photos for best idea of condition of the item as these are a part of the description. Email with any questions or concerns before bidding please.
