SAM'L GABRIEL SONS AND COMPANY "OUR AMERICA PAPER DOLLS" 4 PAPER DOLLS #D114 NURSE & MILITARY LOOKING UNIFORMSI am still working on liquidating my late sisters collections and many of you who have been following my listings and I wish to THANK YOU, ALL! Since I am not a collector I do have to apologize for my lack of knowledge on this subject. If I have grossly misstated anything in the description it is fine if you want to correct me. I am now working on a 'new' bundle of paper dolls and other items that I just took into my possession, have fun exploring them right along with me!!
This set is titled "OUR AMERICA PAPER DOLLS" MADE BY THE SAM GABRIEL SONS AND COMPANY, INC. This is set # D114. There are 4 named Paper Dolls in this set who all have their own cardboard stands. Meet IRENE, LINDA, RITA, AND GAIL. You just may notice that the facial features of the dolls sort of resemble 2 sets of Twins. Gail and Rita look alike except for their color of hair. Irene and Linda also look alike with Irene have slightly lighter brown hair than Linda. They do though have different colored bows in their hair and are wearing different colored underwear. The dolls are all 10 3/4 inches tall. A lot of the clothing for the dolls is still in UNCUT condition. Irene's clothes are mostly cut out. This set has Adornment or Embellishments that are to be cut out and then added onto the clothing. It appears most of these Embellishment paper had at one time gotten wet. These sheets had an adhesive gummed backing, which if used may have to be glued onto the clothing today. Irene appears to have had one of these embellishment sheets stuck to one of her legs as now there is some paper residue on one leg. The embellishment sheets do appear somewhat wavy in appearance and some have even had some of the color bleed on the sheets. The clothing though does not appear damaged in any way and most of it is uncut except for Irene's clothing. The original box to this set does have some condition issues as 2 of the corners of the lid has split and the base of the box has 2 split as well. I do love the graphics on the lid of the box with the little girls wearing a Nurse's Costume and the other in a Military Outfit. My reference guide does not list a date for when this set was made but by the graphics I would guess sometime from the 1920's to 1940's.
