Vintage BROADWAY PLAY PROGRAMS Capitol National Theatre Theater Spencer TracyA collection of 3 Broadway plays, performed in 1926 at the Capitol Theatre and the National Theatre.
We are pleased to offer these rare programs from three Broadway plays in 1926. From the famouse National Theatre on 41st Street in New York, the program serves the American Melodrama 'Yellow' which, among other things, features Spencer Tracy in a prefame role as a bank clerk. Tracy would go on to become one of Hollywood's great icons starting only 4 years later.
The other two programs, from the Capitol Theatre in New York, feature such well-known names as Lionel Barrymore, Greta Garbo, and Rudolph Valentino. The programs were made for Broadway productions of 'The Temptress,' and 'The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.' And, like the National program, have a wide variety of period advertising.
The larger program (from the National) measures 5 1/4 X 7 3/4 inches, while the two identical Capitol programs measure 5 X 7 inches. Together, the programs weigh 4 ounces.
These programs date from 1926, and as such have a wear one would expect with items of this age. There is foxing around the edges, some yellowing, and the covers are coming loose, but are still held by the saddle stitching.
For collectors of old Broadway productions to producers and playwrights, this lot is a great buy!
