Andhra Pradesh launches skill census in Mangalagiri on pilot basis

The Andhra Pradesh government launched the skill census project, the first of its kind in India, on a pilot basis in Mangalagiri and Thullur Mandal.
The exercise will be conducted in 100 villages, for which the village secretaries have already been given the permission to login.
A total of 675 enumerators will visit 1,61,421 families, 1,35,914 in Mangalagiri segment and 25,507 houses in Thullur Mandal, to gather information for the census, the government said in a release.
A mobile application has been designed for collecting data for the census and the enumerators have undergone the necessary training to use it. A technical team has been constituted to assist the field teams and the mapping has already been completed.
Officials from the Skill Development Headquarters will closely monitor the progress of the pilot project and any issues will be corrected before taking up the exercise across the state, official sources said on Monday.
The primary objective of the skill census is to identify the talent in the youngsters and extend the necessary training to them before providing them better employment opportunities.
